Sharon Ventura
                                      Press Release

The Kansas City Pitch, May 31st - June 6th

Extra-Hip Art

Sharon Ventura loves to paint women. Not just any women, but buxom, curvy,
round-hipped, long-haired and full-lipped women. In
Skinny Models Need Not
her show at the Eclectic Gallery, Ventura seeks to represent not just
women's bodies but also their souls. "My paintings are as much an exercise in
design, composition and color as they are explorations... of their emotional and
spiritual experiences," Ventura tells the
Pitch. Her colorful acrylic ladies occupy
huge canvases -- usually 36 inches x 48 inches -- in a stylistic melting pot of
French poster style, silk-resist techniques and medieval stained-glass windows.

The opening reception runs from 2:30 to 4:30 today, and the show will be up
through June 29th. Ventura has another show running through June 15 at the
Underground Gallery (201 Wyandotte, 816-421-5222). Santiago Ramos
